Converting .FLA files to other such as .GIF

I've gone through all of my macromedia software and I havent found any of the
programs useful when it came to converting a .FLA file into a .GIF file. I've
tried almost everything i could come up with. I've opened each programs to see
if I might be able to open and convert the flash file on one of those but I
havent had any luck at all. I need assistance in this. thank you.

You can also do it from File/Publish Settings ctrl+Shift+F12 and check gif for format

That is odd--you can publish and/or export gif animations directly from
flash(details available in the flash help). -Tom Unger

now that i have done that, my next task is to shrink the file down to 15 KB or less,
